Itaewon (accessible via the subway system; alternatively, take a taxi or Bus No. 0014 from Seoul Railway Station) is an urban area that runs down from the southern flank of Namsan and eastwood from the fenced edge of Yongsan Garison, the site of the headquarters of the 8th US Army and the huge War Memorial. The main thoroughfare that bisects the army base into north-south posts similarly bisects Itaewon into an uphill-Namsan side and a downhill side toward the Han River.
