Experience Pleasure with the places in North Korea
From the Georyo palace, take a taxi up to the neatly restored North Gate Bungmun, for a view of the distant blue mountains of North Korea. On a clear day you see for several miles across the Imjin estuary and into the forbidden and communist north. The most dramatic view of North Korea, however, is from Aegibong Peak (open daily 9am-5pm). Once off-limits, except in December when church groups were able to hold Christmas services at the "Christmas Tree," a pylon decked in colored lights, the peak is now open to civilians. You have to show your ID and fill in a form at a checkpoint before you get there, a reminder that you are at the frontline. It is said that this is the only place in South Korea where you can actually observe villages in the North with the naked eye. Note the brush cleared away from the hillside underneath the North Korean checkpoint.
