Visiting The Temples
Saturday, September 26, 2009 - Labels: Inside the temple, Korean Temples, Main Hall, Small Shrine - 0 Comments
The temples, along with their surrounding mountain trails, are popular weekend destinations for both Korean and foreign tourists. If you choose to visit one of the temples, make a day of it. Take time to explore the main temple complex and to appreciate the charm and delicate details of the many buildings. On the doors of the Main Hall, colorful demons repel evils, and lotus flowers promise the hope of nirvana. Inside, look up and you're likely to see dragons and cranes softly suspended from the rafters. And finally, visit the small shrine on the hillside behind the main buildings and pay homage to the Mountain Spirit and Recluse.
