Ganghwa Jiseongmyo Dolmen
Saturday, November 28, 2009 - Labels: Ganghwa Jiseongmyo Dolmen - 1 Comments
About 3km (2 miles) from town, down a dirt path behind a chicken farm, stands a primitive stone structure constructed of three large, flat boulders. Known as the Ganghwa Jiseongmyo Dolmen, archaeologists have identified this ancient monument as a Northern-style dolmen (in Korea goindol - a sacred tomb or altar) which dates back to Neolithic times. Life goes on around these huge stones, as they stand undisturbed in the midst of peppers, tobacco and ginseng.
