The Prehistoric Dolmen
Thursday, November 26, 2009 - Labels: Prehistoric Dolmen - 0 Comments
After seeing this eclectic site, catch a bus at the main terminal and head northwest of Ganghwa town to one of the most mysterious sculptures in Korea, the Prehistoric Dolmen. The scenery along this roadway is dominated mostly by fields of ginseng protected by low thatched lean-tos, and typical Ganghwa farm houses and silos decorated with contemporary folk art. This art is form of meticulous sheet-metal sculpture attached at the upturns of caves and along the edge of corrugated metal roofs. Here and there you will see brilliantly painted sheet-metal cranes, lotus blossoms, airplanes and other such symbolic and surrealistic roofcraft.
