Korea's oldest Episcopal Church (Gamdeok Gyohoe)
Thursday, November 26, 2009 - Labels: Bishop Charles Cort, Episcopal Church, Gamdeok Gyohoe - 1 Comments
Your next stop should be Korea's oldest and most unusual Episcopal Church, Gamdeok Gyohoe. This Christian structure, built in 1900 by Bishop Charles Cort, about 10 years after his arrival in Korea, harmoniously combines Christians, Taoist, and Buddhist elements in its overall design.
The front gate of the church is decorated with a large paisleyed Taoist symbol; the church, constructed of wood, is classically Korean in its interior and exterior architecture; a bodhi tree, an old Buddhism-related symbol, was planted in he church's main courtyard at the time of the church's dedication; and atop the roof is a Christian cross trimmed with fluorescent light bulbs which show visitors the way at night.

Can you show me the picture of Korea's oldest Episcopal Church. I bet it's really vintage and antique.
